Nicholas Sparks really know how to pull the strings on people's emotions. This is the second book I read that's written by him, the first was "The Best of Me." This book is so beautifully written that I laughed and cried and smiled.
The book started out with a mother,Adrienne, watching her daughter, Amanda, sink into depression because of her late husband losing to cancer. The depression brought back memories of a secret paradise she had long ago with the person she fell in love with. She sat her daughter down and told her the paradise of her life, starting with the sadness of her first divorce and how she agreed to work at a friend's motel while they are out of town. That week, she met Paul and soon they fell in love with each other.
Knowing that Adrienne decided to tell her daughter this story was because of Amanda's late husband and her depression, I knew that somehow Paul passed away, and I braced myself for the tears. But the way how he died came out as a surprised and tears just swelled up. I absolutely love this book and the way it was told. Nights in Rodanthe
