| Biography | Born August 2, 1872, at Two Rivers, Wisconsin. After early hotel and real-estate ventures in Two Rivers and Chicago, he moved to Milwaukee where he operated a waterfront hotel. Elected county supervisor in 1989 and in 1916 alderman, a position he held until 1944. In 1942, as Council president, he became Acting Mayor when Carl Zeidler left for the war. In 1944 elected to a full term as mayor in his own right. Returned to his real estate business in 1948 and died in Milwaukee April 20, 1955. |
