About this collection

Housed in its current Carnegie building since 1908, the Stoughton Public Library serves the local community of over 13,000 residents and the surrounding area. The Stoughton Local History digitization project includes a selection of materials from the Kvamme Local History Collection, which serves as a useful resource for research into genealogy, Norwegian culture, and the history of the city and its surroundings.

This project was completed in cooperation with the Wisconsin South Central Library System (SCLS) and was funded through a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant. The LSTA grant was made available through the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), which is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 122,000 libraries and 17,500 museums. The Institute’s mission is to create strong libraries and museums that connect people to information and ideas.
