About this collection

The Marshall Community Library of Marshall, Wisconsin (Dane County) is collecting and digitizing materials concerning the history of Marshall and surrounding townships. Marshall has been known as Hanchettville, Bird's Ruins, and Howard City. The surrounding townships include Medina, York, and Sun Prairie.

The Marshall Community Library has a collection of photographs taken in the Deansville, Medina, North York, Oak Lawn, St. Mary's, York Center, and York Medina cemeteries. Photographs from these collections will be added over time. An index of the photographs is available on the library website. Special thanks to Dale Allen for her dedication to this project.

This project was completed in cooperation with the Wisconsin South Central Library System (SCLS) and was funded through a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant. The LSTA grant was made available through the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), which is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 122,000 libraries and 17,500 museums. The Institute’s mission is to create strong libraries and museums that connect people to information and ideas.
